TARMO THORSTRÖM

Tarmo Thorström is known as both a torchbearer and a reformer of the traditional bobbin lace making in Rauma. Respecting the past he shapes lace and lacemaking into new forms using atypical materials, scales and subjects. His applied lacemaking has lead him to develop the methods and tools. Thorström’s main technique is bobbin lace making but in his hands lace gets its form also as light projections, wood cuttings, paintings and animations. By education he is a class teacher (Master of Education) and a master craftsman.
